Ben Falter, Director of Education, revisits four historic North Main Street churches in this fall’s walking tour series.

Major religious revivals swept across the United States in the 19th century, including in Western New York, then known as the “Burned Over District.” Canandaigua was then developing from a frontier settlement into a well-established community. Examining the history of these churches allows us to understand these important aspects of Canandaigua’s cultural history.
