Celebrate America 250! Intro to Genealogy with Canandaigua Chapter NSDAR, INC.
Have you ever wondered if you might have a Revolutionary War ancestor? Join us on Saturday, February 21, from 12:30pm-2:30pm, for a beginner’s workshop designed to help you get started exploring your roots in celebration of America 250!
Presented by members of the Canandaigua Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), Inc. in partnership with the Ontario County Historical Society, this workshop will introduce you to the basics of genealogical research. You’ll discover helpful, online resources, tools, and websites to support your research, including Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org, as well as an introduction to the resources at OCHS. Trained genealogists will work one-on-one to get you started on your family discovery journey
Participants should bring a laptop or tablet to work directly with experienced DAR volunteer genealogists. Creating a free account on FamilySearch.org ahead of time is recommended to make the most of the workshop. You should also come with the birth, marriage, and death dates, if applicable, of parents, grandparents, and great grandparents.
Although there is no charge for this program, registration is required. Please call 585-394-4975 to reserve your spot.
