Join Ontario County Historical Society on Friday, December 5, 2025 for the premiere of our short documentary film examining the history of Roseland Park and discover why we’re still Remembering Roseland. William Muar opened the gates to Roseland in 1925, giving Canandaigua its very own amusement park. Roseland was a premier attraction for sixty years before closing in September 1985. Now, forty years later, Roseland’s history remains beloved in Canandaigua and beyond. Help us celebrate the 100th anniversary of Roseland’s opening with this very special event. The short film features perspectives obtained during recent interviews, with thoughts on the new “Ghost of Roseland” sculpture at the north shore, employment at the park, lakeshore development, and the production of the book, Roseland: Playground of the Finger Lakes (2007).
This event will be held at Cobblestone Arts Center, located at 1622 Route 332 in Farmington, NY. Enjoy light refreshments and a special display of artifacts from the collections of OCHS. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., program starts at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Q&A with OCHS Director of Education and filmmaker Ben Falter.
